Well I got swayed by the hype and advertising so I bought this product.

    PROS
Egg protein has a good nutritional profile so it assimilates slower than Whey and thats a benefit when sleeping at night.

    CONS
Taste – The WORST tasting protein powder I have ever come across in over 11 years of using protein supplements. It tastes extremely chemical. The sweetener and flavouring agent they have used is AWFUL. Its so bad the only way I could drink it was by doing the following:
    1. pinching my nose (otherwise the taste would make me want to throw up)
    2. pouring it down my throat with my free hand.
    3. Immediately rinse my mouth with water to get rid of the aftertaste
    4. Suck on a mint to get rid of the remainder of the taste

After about 5 uses I just couldn’t bear the thought of drinking anymore of it and just threw it all away.

Customer Service – Several emails to Optimum Nutrition about this product and the poor taste have gone unanswered. So their “customer service” is a joke.

On a scale of 1-10 (1 being the worst) I’d give this product a zero.

How Optimum Nutrition so totally mess up the safest flavour in the world (Vanilla)?? Do their product development guys actually taste the stuff? I’m sure even roadkill has a better flavour . . . . .

    CONCLUSION:
Sure it has a great nutrition profile, but so does every other egg protein powder out there and those other ones are tasty and go down easy. Even the no-name generic store egg proteins I’ve consumed are far superior to this.

There are lots of good, tasty and easy to drink protein powders (whey, hemp, rice, egg), why anyone would buy Optimum’s Egg protein is beyond me.

  2. Egg protein used to be available at the grocery store it was so common but whey has all but taken over the entire protein market. I won’t go into the “biological value” or profile of the proteins or time value, but egg is better. This stuff tastes pretty decent too especially for being a straight protein mix. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being a fish milkshake (old SNL reference) and 10 being a Dairy Queen Snickers Blizzard. . . I give this a solid 6. . . maybe 7.

Optimum Nutrition 100% Egg Protein in the vanilla custard is the best tasting and best texture way to consume 24 grams of protein along with the milk makes 32 grams of protein power. I like to mix it in the blender with four ice cubes, milk, and about two tablespoons of honey. Wowie, zowie, yum! I was a vegetarian 25 years ago, and I’ve tried a lot of products to get my protein levels up to par. Years ago I had a similar egg protein powder and it was the best of them all. Back them I mixed it with water, ice cubes and honey, and it tasted great. So lactose intolerant folks have other ways to make their drink taste great. There are 29 servings per two pound container, so that means about $1. 12 per serving at these great Amazon prices (including shipping). About three months ago, I went to my local GNC store and bought the same item for $44. 99 plus tax 3. 15 = $48. 14, or $1. 66 per serving. Again, great taste and texture, no after taste nor chemical taste. It actually tastes better than my favorite vanilla malt from Dairy Queen, or Zesto. I do my shopping here at Amazon, for the best price.

This is the salties protein powder I’ve ever tasted. I have tried many.
If you look in the ingredient section you’ll see how much salt there is in it. I didn’t know until AFTER I made my protein shake. Wow! Super salt.

  5. Awesome flavor. We have a lactose intolerant person living in our home. . . this the best alternative. :)
